Statement from Monty Jones- Chairman of GFAR and Executive Director of FARA:
"I have just returned from Uruguay, where I participated in a preparatory meeting for the Second Global Conference on Agricultural Research for Development (GCARD2). The purpose of my visit was to review the program and logistics preparations for the event, which will take place at Punta Del Este, Uruguay, from 28 October to 1 November 1 2012.
Meetings with Uruguay’s Ministers of Agriculture and Foreign Affairs confirmed the Government’s support and willingness to host GCARD2. I also met with Carlos Castillo, the CGIAR Consortium Board Chair to work out the detailed breakout session programme and the brief agenda. Clearly, GFAR and the CGIAR consortium have come a long way to reinforce each other towards the realisation of a shared vision."
