Patrick Dugan is Deputy Director General of the WorldFish Center. In this role he leads the CGIAR Research Program on Aquatic Agricultural Systems (AAS). Patrick joined WorldFish in 2000 where he served initially as Deputy Director General for Africa and West Asia, based in Cairo, Egypt, and subsequently as Deputy Director General responsible for overseeing implementation of the Center’s research strategy. He moved to Penang in January 2009. Prior to joining the CGIAR Patrick held several positions with IUCN – The World Conservation Union, most recently as Global Program Director based in Switzerland. Over the course of his career he has worked extensively in Africa, Asia and Latin America, and served as advisor to several international organizations including the Global Environment Facility, the Mekong River Commission, NEPAD, OECD-DAC, the Ramsar Convention, UNEP, and the World Commission on Dams.
