As an analyst with a doctorate in agricultural economics, I was employed by the European Commission's Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development from 2002 to 2010. During this time I worked for two different Units: the Agricultural Policy Analysis Unit and, subsequently, the Arable Crops Unit, responsible for analysing the Cereals and Sugar markets.
Consequently, I have a very wide experience in agricultural policy analysis. Working independently and as part of a team, I developed reports on issues ranging initially from the reform of the Tobacco and Wine sectors, then Grains and Sugar and Risk Management. I was closely involved with the reform of the Sugar sector and its very complex follow-up. More recently I wrote a first analysis on the possible consequences of the abolition of sugar quotas post-2015.In addition to analytical work, during my time in the Arable Crops Unit I was given responsibility for the conception and development of a new database management system
