The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), in partnership with the Permanent Interstate Committee for Drought Control in the Sahel (CILSS) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Regional Office for Africa, are organizing the “Horn of Africa and Sahel Virtual Knowledge Share Fair: Promoting innovation to build resilience against climatic shocks” that will take place from 19 to 23 October 2020.

The event will be an opportunity to share good or promising practices and experiences that have a proven impact and are sustainable, which will be discussed and showcased during the virtual share fair as a way to further promote localization, partnership and up-scaling and replicable practices contributing to the humanitarian-peace-development nexus in the Horn of Africa and Sahel regions. The themes of the share fair are as follows:

  • Information systems, early warning systems, and analysis
  • Management of natural resource-based conflicts
  • Disaster risk reduction and climate resilience
  • Innovative support to agro-pastoralists and pastoralists
  • Social protection and safety nets

IGAD-CILSS-FAO welcome government agencies, technical partners, civil societies, NGOs, academic and research institutions and resource partners to participate. We hope this event can provide a space for potential joint interests and partnership, and pave the way for the uptake and up-scaling of resilience-enhancing good practices, especially within the context COVID-19. We look forward to welcoming you (virtually) to reinforce collaboration and synergies for building resilience against climatic shocks in the Horn of Africa and Sahel regions.
