This press release highlights the Collective Action on Forgotten Foods and Crops, which is emphasising the role of small and marginal farmers, including women, in India to restore nutritious crops and forgotten foods. The initiative, supported by international and national partners, recognises that these farmers are key actors and partners in research, knowledge creation and innovation, rather than passive beneficiaries. The collaboration is facilitated by the Global Forum on Agricultural Research and Innovation and is led by the Self-Employed Women's Association, the Asian Farmers Association for Sustainable Rural Development, the MS Swaminathan Research Foundation and the Asia-Pacific Association of Agricultural Research Institutions. The initiative focuses on the principles of collaboration, partnership and knowledge exchange to achieve greater food and nutrition security, resilience and climate adaptation, and to encourage recognition and respect for the values of small farmers.
