Joan Apio is the Communication Officer at the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) based at Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda. She has a total working experience of 6+years, in the Information & Communication Technology working with universities through Higher Education and Agriculture. She has supported the implementation ICT related Outreach projects through working with the universities, implemented and managed online platforms to support the RUFORUM agenda.  Joan has also provided ICT related technical support including websites, desktop publishing, managing service providers, systems development and network infrastructure.
As a Communication Officer, she has engaged stakeholder in strategic communications planning and processes that support the organization mission, strengthen the visibility of the organization, and raise public awareness. She is particularly interested in the use and application of ICTs particularly the use of social media towards creating impact in the agricultural sector with a focus on young people. She has a passion for supporting youth to be proficient users of ICTs with a focus on social media usage.
