The 2015 Forum of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) will take place in Geneva, Switzerland from 25 to 29 May.
WSIS Forum represents the world’s largest annual gathering of the ICT for development community, co-organized by ITU, UNESCO, UNDP and UNCTAD, in collaboration with the Action Line facilitators, such as e-agriculture.

E-agriculture is happy to invite you to participate in the 2015 Forum’s e-Agriculture Action Line Session, which will be held on Thursday 28 May from 11h00 to 12h45 (GMT+2), and can be attended on site or remotely. You will find the details for remote participation through the session link.

The session will examine the contribution of the e-agriculture action line to address the Sustainable Development Goals’ challenges. Examples of approaches, some of the factors affecting the free flow of information, the development of applications, ownership and inclusiveness, as well as the government policies to encourage solutions will be discussed.

The Line Session will have the following panelists:

  • Sophie Treinen, FAO, e-agriculture Action Line Facilitator and Chairperson
  • Hani Eskandar, ITU, Development of a National e-agriculture strategy guide
  • Ken Lohento, CTA, Open Data
  • David Soutar, SlashRoots Foundation, Application Development
  • François Laureys, IICD, Farmer-centric Data for Agriculture
  • Mireille N’simire, IITA, Mobile Finance for Agriculture
  • Julien Gonnet, RONGEAD, N’Kalo: an information service for improved agro-value chains
ITU is providing remote participation facilities for a lot of the sessions so it is worthwhile to go through the full agenda and check which other sessions you would like to follow.

If you need help for the remote participation or have any questions about the session, please write to info@e-agriculture.org
